It's important to know that here in
the USA that in most cases, puppy mills
are not illegal. In most states, a
breeding kennel can legally keep dozens,
even hundreds, of dogs in cages for
their entire lives, as long as the dogs
are given the basics of food, water, and
shelter. It is just so sad and sick.
So when the internet came about this became a new venue for the
puppy millers to use to sell dogs. This also became a way for
broker websites to offer dogs for sales from these puppy mills.
They would buy the puppies dirt cheap , clean them up and advertise
them in a website for sale as their own puppies. The buyers would
never ever know.
The Shorkie Club of America is against Pet Shops

Each and every
Shorkie Club of America breeder is held to a high standard of
ethics. If a breeder sells to a broker, buys from a brokers,
sells to a pet shop their membership is automatically terminated.
The Shorkie Club of America has denied membership if a breeder
does not meet the standards of breeding practices and the code of
ethics.
With so many breeders online these days the one thing many puppy
parents do not know is that any and all breeders conducting business
online must be registered as a legal business in there state.
If
they are not that is a huge red flag.
So please check with
the department of revenue in your state to find out if the breeder
you are considering is a licensed business. You must do all you can
to protect yourself and your family online
There is also a breeder
in Alabama by the name of Sherry Carter and owns a website called
Puppy Pawler. She is a PET SHOP and buys and resells dogs.
Buyers beware of this site. She was declined membership into the
Shorkie Club of America but she uses our content from our site and
she uses our graphics to look like she is one of our SCA breeders.
Sherry Carter was reported to the department of revenue and was MADE
to get legal.
All Shorkie Club of America breeders are required to be a
Licensed business prior to be accepted.
We will not allow any breeder into the SCA that is not a legal
business. This is to protect our puppy parents world wide.
So no
matter what breeder you are considering.
Do your research and make
sure they are a legal business!
